The Numbers
Fees, Free Kinder & the Child Care Subsidy
Most eligible families pay a fraction of the advertised daily rate once government funding is applied. Here's how it works at Bayswater.
Step 1
Free Kinder funding
Up to $2,563 per eligible child, per year from the Victorian Government — automatically applied as a discount on your weekly fees.
Step 2
Child Care Subsidy (CCS)
Combine Free Kinder with CCS from Services Australia — the percentage you receive depends on your family income, and the 3 Day Guarantee gives every eligible family at least 72 subsidised hours per fortnight.
Step 3
What you actually pay
After both are applied, most Bayswater families pay a small out-of-pocket daily fee that includes meals, nappies and program materials.
Our Programs
Two funded kinder programs at Bayswater
Both delivered by qualified Early Childhood Teachers, Monday to Friday during Victorian school terms.

Ages 3–4
3 Year Old Kindergarten
A play-based funded program that builds confidence, social skills and early literacy — the perfect foundation for the four-year-old kinder year.
The light-filled kinder rooms look out over a quiet court where children can watch the trains go by. Inspired by the Curiosity Approach and our Hygge philosophy, the spaces feel warm, calm and home-like — inviting exploration at each child's own pace.
An indoor / outdoor program runs throughout the day, and community outings, incursions and inquiry-based projects help children build a genuine sense of belonging to their Bayswater community.

Ages 4–5
4 Year Old Kindergarten
15 hours per week of funded kinder led by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher, with a strong focus on school readiness and transition to Prep.
Play-based learning is blended with intentional teaching. As the year progresses the focus deepens on self-regulation, listening, problem-solving, early literacy and numeracy, with inquiry projects, community outings and incursions extending children's thinking.
Lunches and snacks are provided, and the year concludes with a special end-of-year excursion to celebrate the children's growth and friendships before they head off to Prep.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything Bayswater families ask about fees, Free Kinder and enrolments.
How much does kindergarten cost at Meraki Bayswater?+
Kindergarten at Meraki Bayswater is delivered inside our long day care, so families pay a daily fee rather than a term fee. Once Free Kinder funding and the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) are applied, most eligible families pay significantly less than the advertised daily rate. Contact us for a personalised fee estimate based on your family income and days of attendance.
What is Free Kinder and does Meraki Bayswater offer it?+
Free Kinder is a Victorian Government initiative that provides up to $2,563 per eligible child, per year, off the cost of a funded kindergarten program. Meraki Bayswater is an approved provider, so eligible three- and four-year-old children automatically receive the funding as a reduction on your weekly childcare fees.
How do I enrol my child in kindergarten at Bayswater?+
Enrolment is a simple three-step process: book a tour of our Bayswater centre, submit our online enrolment form, then we'll confirm your child's start date and days. We recommend enrolling the year before your child is due to start — places fill quickly, especially for four-year-old kinder.
When can my child start three- or four-year-old kinder?+
Children must turn three by 30 April to start three-year-old kinder, and four by 30 April to start four-year-old kinder in that calendar year. If you're unsure whether your child is ready, our Early Childhood Teachers are happy to talk it through with you.
Do you provide the government-funded 15-hour program?+
Yes. Our four-year-old kinder delivers 15 hours per week of funded kindergarten led by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher, and our three-year-old kinder delivers the funded hours required by the Department of Education. Both programs run Monday to Friday during Victorian school terms.
What's included in the daily fee?+
All meals (breakfast, morning tea, chef-prepared lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack), nappies, sunscreen, hats, incursions, excursions, and the funded kindergarten program itself — no hidden extras.
Do you accept the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?+
Yes. Meraki Bayswater is an approved CCS provider. Most families combine CCS with Free Kinder funding to substantially reduce their out-of-pocket childcare costs. You'll need to register with Services Australia to activate your CCS entitlement.
Can I book a tour of the Bayswater kinder rooms?+
Absolutely — tours are the best way to see the light-filled kinder rooms, meet the teacher, and ask questions specific to your child. Book online or call (03) 8658 7880.
How old does my child need to be to start kinder?+
In line with Victorian Government guidelines, children need to be three by 30 April to start three-year-old kinder that year, and four by 30 April to start four-year-old kinder. If you're unsure whether your child is ready or eligible, our team is happy to talk it through with you.
Are meals included or do I need to pack lunch?+
Lunches are provided for all children, adapted to dietary and allergy needs, along with morning tea, afternoon tea and a late snack. In term four, four-year-old kinder children are encouraged to bring a packed lunch once or twice a week to help them get used to what it will be like at school.
How do you support the transition to school?+
Throughout the four-year-old year, our teacher builds school-readiness skills like self-regulation, listening in groups, problem-solving, early literacy and numeracy. We complete a Transition Learning and Development Statement for each child to share with their school, and host conversations about the move to Prep in term four.
